Code for Sustainable Homes

At Coda we take sustainability very seriously

So of course we fully support the national standard for sustainable design and the construction of new homes, the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The Code is a detailed scheme that enables new-build housing to gain a measure of sustainability. Points are scored within each of nine categories and a final performance rating of one to six stars is generated for the whole home. In May 2008 it became mandatory for all new homes to be assessed and this requires a qualified Code Assessor. We can help with this.

Local authorities increasingly demand minimum Code Levels (usually 3 or higher) for new housing as a planning requirement. There is every sign that expectations will continue to increase, leading to carbon neutral housing by 2016. As with the Building for Life and Lifetime Homes initiatives, the requirements of Code compliance can be satisfied efficiently if considered early in the design.

Here at Coda we have helped clients navigate the complexities of achieving Code compliance on a variety of schemes. Please contact us for more information if you would like us to help you too.
