Coda is passionate about the sympathetic redevelopment and restoration of historic buildings.
However we are by no means the only ones. The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) was founded in 1877 to counteract the highly destructive 'restoration' of medieval buildings being practised by many Victorian architects. Today it is the largest, oldest and most technically expert national pressure group fighting to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage.
SPAB is notified of listed building applications that involve total or partial demolition and has a statutory role as adviser to local planning authorities. So if you have an historic building that you have big plans for and want to know where to get started, we can highly recommend that you pay a visit to SPAB.
